📜 Rules & Regulations — Jim Corbett Tiger Reserve

All visitors to the Tiger Reserve are governed by the provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act and rules made thereunder.

1.All reservations are provisional and can be changed or cancelled without prior information. Director CTR's decision is final.

2.Carrying of firearms of any kind is strictly not permitted within the Tiger Reserve.

3.No pets can be taken inside the Tiger Reserve.

4.Walking or trekking is strictly prohibited inside the Tiger Reserve.

5.Driving inside the Tiger Reserve after sunset is prohibited.

6.Cooking is not allowed within the Tiger Reserve and at Dhikala and Bijrani complexes.

7.Visitors must carry a litter bag and bring back all non-biodegradable waste. Throwing litter will invite severe penalties.

8.Official registered guide is compulsory on all excursions inside the reserve.

9.Smoking outside residential complexes and lighting of any kind of fire is strictly prohibited.

10.Playing of transistors, tape recorders or any audio devices within the Tiger Reserve is prohibited.

11.Visitors are prohibited from taking vehicles off designated routes or causing damage to plant, animal life or habitat.

12.Blowing of horns and driving above the speed limit is strictly prohibited within the reserve.

13.Entry into restricted zones by visitors is strictly prohibited.

14.Shouting, teasing, chasing animals or attempts to feed them are prohibited and will invite severe penalties.

15.Visitors must occupy reserved accommodation on the first day or send prior intimation; otherwise reservation is treated as cancelled.

16.Maximum two adults and two children (below 12 yrs) per room. One extra bed can be provided on payment.

17.Day visit to Dhikala Tourism Zone is not permitted except in conducted tours organised by Corbett Tiger Reserve.

18.Entry of private vehicles in all Tourism Zones is prohibited.

19.Entry into the Tiger Reserve is at the visitor's own risk. Authorities shall not be responsible for any damages caused.

🌿 Corbett Tiger Reserve — An Overview

Corbett Tiger Reserve (CTR), originally established as Hailey National Park in 1936, is a jewel in the crown of India's wildlife conservation efforts. Located in the Nainital district of Uttarakhand, CTR is not only the first national park in India, but also the first to come under the Project Tiger initiative.

Renamed in honor of Jim Corbett in 1956, a hunter-turned-naturalist who played a crucial role in its establishment, the park is a living testament to conservation success. Today it is home to over 260 Bengal tigers, 600+ bird species, Asian elephants, leopards, sloth bears, gharials and an extraordinarily rich ecosystem spread across 1,318 sq km of sal forest, grasslands and riverbeds.
